KLK Consulting Ltd. is seeking an experienced Maintenance Manager / Engineer for a private island resort in the Exuma Cays, Bahamas. This is a management-level opportunity for a hands-on maintenance professional with strong leadership skills and experience overseeing resort facilities, equipment, utility systems, and maintenance teams.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the overall upkeep, repair, and preventative maintenance of the resort’s facilities, grounds, equipment, and essential operating systems. This role requires someone who is proactive, organized, safety-conscious, and able to support the smooth day-to-day operations of a luxury island property.
Bahamas nationals with the right to work are preferred. The starting pay rate will be based on experience.
Key Responsibilities
The Maintenance Manager / Engineer will oversee the resort’s maintenance operations and support a four-person maintenance team with all aspects of property maintenance, repairs, groundskeeping, and facility upkeep. The role includes responsibility for preventative maintenance, work order completion, contractor supervision, inspections, equipment logs, inventory, and emergency repairs.
Responsibilities include:
Oversee and assist the maintenance team with repairs and maintenance of resort facilities, villas, grounds, and equipment.
Perform regular preventative maintenance on generators, reverse osmosis systems, air-conditioning, refrigeration, kitchen equipment, and golf carts.
Supervise the boat maintenance team and assist when required.
Ensure villas are inspected before guest arrival and that maintenance issues are addressed promptly.
Follow up on work assignments to ensure work orders are completed efficiently and thoroughly.
Assist with selecting contractual services and supervise on-site contractors.
Maintain vehicle, equipment, machinery, and maintenance logs.
Coordinate routine maintenance and minor emergency repairs.
Maintain inventory of tools, equipment, and supplies.
Ensure maintenance staff follow safety procedures and use proper safety equipment.
Meet daily with the Resort Manager to report on maintenance status, concerns, hazards, and recommended solutions.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate should have strong technical maintenance knowledge, proven leadership ability, and the ability to manage priorities in a fast-paced resort environment.
Required or preferred qualifications include:
Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office, email, and internet use.
Demonstrated leadership abilities.
Ability to motivate, train, and supervise staff.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong multitasking, time-management, problem-solving, and prioritization skills.
Proficiency using hand tools and power equipment.
Knowledge of plumbing, electrical, construction, pool systems, and grounds maintenance.
Ability to respond to resort needs outside of regular business hours.
At least one year of supervisory experience preferred.
At least three years of experience in general maintenance, repair work, and groundskeeping preferred.
Physical Requirements
This position requires the ability to stand, sit, and walk for extended periods. The employee must be able to lift or move up to 10 pounds regularly and up to 75 pounds frequently.
